    Healthcare Reform

Dr. Robert J. Winn firmly believes that no family or individual should ever have to go bankrupt to pay their medical bills - and yet, so many do. For the past fifteen years, Dr. Winn has served as a family physician in Collingswood and seen firsthand how difficult it can be for underserved populations to get the medical treatment they need to live long and healthy lives. This struggle is especially profound for those who find themselves caught in a cycle of addiction or face other illnesses that mainstream society routinely ignores or dismisses. In Robert J.'s experience, those who most need compassionate care are often the ones who face the greatest hardships in finding it. As such, he is a staunch supporter of healthcare reform, and hopes for a future where everyone, regardless of socioeconomic standing or financial status, can access the medical care they need.

Robert J. Winn has just started Real Wellness, LLC, a private family medicine practice in Collingswood, New Jersey, to help keep others well. The office of a doctor is not like Real Wellness. Instead of focusing only on the patient's problem, Winn's practice treats the patient as a whole, offering them comprehensive care and all the time they need.

    Professional Philosophy

As a primary care provider, Dr. Robert J. Winn has dedicated his career to helping his patients set lifestyle foundations that will aid them in building long and healthy lives. His healthcare philosophy falls firmly within the realm of family medicine: Beneficial lifestyle changes in the present can do wonders for preventing serious ailments in the future. When he works with patients, he not only seeks to resolve the problem at hand, but to guide them towards a long-lasting practice of healthy habits. Robert J. is an avid supporter of keeping to a well-balanced diet and exercise routine; in 2015, he himself underwent a six-month health and fitness challenge. By its conclusion, Dr. Winn had lost over fifty pounds and set a pattern of healthy eating and exercise. Knowing from firsthand experience that his patients will have more energy, be happier, and feel healthier if they shift their lifestyle practices, he encourages those he sees to make their own healthy habits for long-term health.

    Educational Background

Robert J.'s interest in medicine spans back to his earliest years in college. As an undergraduate at Furman University, Winn decided to study neuroscience. Following his graduation from the institution in 1991, Robert pursued his Master of Science in Psychology at Villanova University; in 1994, he dove into a medical doctorate program at the Drexel University College of Medicine. It was during his time at Drexel that Robert J. Winn realized that he wanted to pursue a career path in family medicine. Upon his graduation in 1998, Robert entered into a residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, where he trained to become a family physician. After a few years of proving his mettle as a resident, Robert was brought on as a faculty member in the Department of Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. He remained with the institution for over fifteen years, and received a number of awards for his performance in the role.

Visiting the doctor is not supposed to be an action that evokes fear, yet it does for so many people. Some of them are worried about conditions that they might have, and others are afraid of having to advocate for themselves. Individuals who fall into the latter group can learn some tips for...

Some people can’t start their day without first running a few miles. Other people cringe at the thought of getting on a treadmill and running for 10 minutes. While running is one of the most common types of cardio exercise, it certainly isn’t the only one. If you’re someone who hates running but...

The term “superfood” is slightly misleading. No one food offers all of the nutritional and health benefits that we need for good health or to prevent disease. The phrase was coined for marketing purposes, as a way to sell more products. However, there are a few foods that do pack a lot of...
